London Day 2 | #BPSFW Press Event and Dinner

Monday, March 04, 2013

Day 2 in London started at 4am. Even after going to bed by 8pm the night before to adjust our clocks, my body was up and ready to work by the crack of dawn, which usually does NOT exist in my world. The morning was relaxed and enjoyed a classic English breakfast at our hotel restaurant. I took my time getting ready and got some Instagramming done for Torrid (I took over their twitter and instagram for the week!).

13:00 Friday February 14th
We headed over to the British Plus Size Fashion Weekend Press event around 1pm. The event took place on the 3rd floor Gallery space of the Beach Blanket Babylon. The bright white space perfectly showcased the vibrant colors and textures of the fashions being shown to the press.

{above} Finally had the perfect opportunity to wear my new shoes I snapped up at Target before I left.

As host, I had the most amazing view ever. It was so great to see so many women I've known for so long via online including the gorgeous blonde in front wearing a black and white checkered skirt - Skorch Blogger Chelsea Duarte of Coco Curve Boutique. The press was absolutely insane! The BPSFW team knocked it out of the park with reporters present from all corners of the globe including BBC, German PBS Radio and NBC News.

There were beautiful orange lips everywhere! I was excited to finally meet the pair of ladies behind the new label One One Three, I so love their line.

Marcy Guevara (wearing a Cult of Cali top) snapping a pic right before the fashion show was ready to commence. I loved her video recap of the Press Event and Fashion Show, be sure to watch it by clicking here. I'm still laughing at the face Mandy was giving me - LOL!

This outfit was absolutely my favorite from my entire trip. I was SO comfortable (aside from the shoes, lol). The top was actually an Alfani dress I found at Macy's, I just cut the skirt off and presto - had the perfect black peplum top with a built in buckle! The skirt is courtesy of Torrid and is the most perfectly shaped skirt for my body especially since it has pockets! Accessories from Forever 21.

British Plus Size Fashion Weekend Executive Producer, Rianne Ward of Evolve Magazine, running through the script and timeline for the event with me.

LOVED the outfit of fellow American plus blogger, Kellie Brown of Fatshion Insider.

I gave in a few hours later and put the flats on, my feet were so sad! LOL Hosting at the event was so great and such a fabulous crowd.

Being interviewed by BBC.

After the press event, the production team so generously invited Mandy and I to dinner with them. We dined at Thai Thai in Shoreditch, was such a beautiful restaurant. Thank you to the team for making us feel like family, such a powerful and passionate group of people and a privilege to be included.

My outfit for dinner was a dress provided by Torrid, shoes by Payless
and a Joe Brown fur coat courtesy of SimplyBe.

A tired bunch this production team was and so sad Rianne didn't make it in the picture!! :( Thanks goodness we have more pictures in the que, love you Rianne!

Wfew! A successful Day 2 ended with me happily closing my eyes and dreaming of the glamour I knew was in store for day 3, little did I know that would lead to an interview with the Today Show?!?! Mind. Blown.
