When asked what items are my essential pieces in my closet, a pencil skirt is always at the top of the list. I dabble once in a while with a bright pant and mixed patterns, but in truth, my essential style is basic and revolves around a black or dark denim "bottom". The black pencil skirt will go with ANYTHING and can be day to night in the snap of a jacket and shoes.

This pencil skirt has seen me from size 28 to 22 since I take it in and out at the side as needed to fit. It's such a great Ponte knit skirt found many years ago at Lane Bryant that I just can't let go of it, plus the fact I refuse to spend extra money on clothing just because. Good news is I must not be the only one thinking it's perfect as it's a staple at Lane Bryant year around [link here].And from that reason, I also kept this top I fell in love with so long ago from SimplyBe.

Topped off the look with a opaque pair of tights from We Love Colors, again a supreme find many years ago. These tights fit amazing, never snagged and are actually opaque and have room for my ample rear :). The heels are new additions to the lust closet and I found myself staring at my feet the entire day. I'm an 11W and have a fairly large ankle, so I always worry about the fit. These were perfect and room for a larger ankle as well.

The perfect outfit for a great business meeting! Hoping that top brought me some luck as I await news this week on something pretty huge for Portland Fashion Week®. #fingerscrossed

So I feel in love with the pink pair like these then Torrid, reading my mind obviously, made a gold foil pair and well....my heart is complete. It's sickening how much I love these shoes and want to run around all day everywhere in them.

Third day in a ROW of dressing up! Today we had a meeting with some business friends about a fun New Year's event and my company producing the fashion show part. As an event producer, it's easy to get "event"ed out, but it's been a while since I had a party time NYE and can't wait to have my favorite people around me when I do. Gawd, what to wear? UGH... I quit. Time to pick out what I wore last time and just wear it again. LOL I'm so not joking!

Now, to the outfit of the hour - this skirt was really one of the best investments EVER. It's a mesh fabric and so comfortable, a great piece from SWAK Designs (link). When I went to bed last night I just dreamed about it with my gorgeous blazer from Lane Bryant a few seasons ago, cutest and most useful tote on the planet, and my new Lane Bryant booties (link)! These booties are so freaking comfy, truly. I am an 11W and the foot is plenty wide and the ankle zip is definitely snug, but I love that as it supports your ankle. I'm actually thinking of buying another pair as after I wear them out I will cry if I can't get another pair.

Speaking of wearing out, I can't believe these tights I got I think 3 years ago from We Love Colors are still in perfect shape. They truly are the best. And I love there is plenty room for the bum as that seems to always be a problem finding pairs to fit a big booty.

I had a good day. After months of feeling utterly miserable, lack of energy, motivation, care, a total funk of depression for no good reason except the fact my body used up every ounce of serotonin and dopamine I have. There is such a long story there, but the moral is, I may seem always happy - afterall the unfortunate side effect of social media is that we only see someone's highlights - but I go through it too. Unfortunately, I operate with the mentality of "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all." And, I try to spare you the emotional vomit :). You're welcome, lol. So the last two days I've actually dressed up, wore makeup, did my hair and I tell you -- makes a world of difference and puts a smile on my face.

I had lunch with my best friend Mandy, and I conned her into taking pics of me for old time's sake. Yay I won! HAHA I have been wearing this top 24/7 since Lane Bryant sent me gift box with goodies from their new collaboration with Isabel and Ruben Toledo. I absolutely love the shirt because the fabric is so freaking comfortable and the bottom hem is a high-low from hip to hip. LOVE IT. And when I saw these booties on the Lane Bryant website, I could NOT wait to get them. I'm loving the collab so far and can't wait to see what else they surprise us with.

I NEVER wear brown, which is weird as my hair and makeup are always shades of brown, so why am I brown allergic?!! Well, Avenue sent some goodies for me to try and I tell ya, I think brown and I are slowing creating a relationship.

I actually didn't pick anything out, it was just sent, which is probably good as I would never have chosen this outfit - but you know what? I really love it, like REALLY love it. When I opened the package to this top, I cringed a bit but when I put it on, I couldn't believe I liked it??!! And in fact, one of my fav tops right now. It's a perfect fabric, perfect length and cute enough to be a bit dressy but not too much. I don't know, I was dumb founded. Goes to show the rule is true - JUST TRY IT ON!

So, then I tried the "butter denim" which fit perfectly and comfortably. They don't have front pockets though, that drives me nuts, but they are soft and more of a thin fabric and little stretch. They fit perfectly in the wide calf boots - again more brown that I never dreamed I would like. And overall, I'm loving this outfit for all.

Thank you Avenue! Glad to see some good fashion coming out since you're under new ownership - there is still hope!
